The conference
is part of the "Extend Your Life, Don't Expand It" campaign, which
aims to introduce experimental nutrition education programs in primary schools.
In recent
years, childhood obesity has increased rapidly, causing concern among
pediatricians, schools, and families. The Carlo Mendozzi ETS Foundation is
proposing a nationwide initiative to combine healthy eating habits, emotional
education, and scientific literacy in schools.
The afternoon
session alternated institutional and clinical perspectives, from the new
obesity law to updates on pediatrics, from food law to integrated health in
schools, and the role of teachers, administrators, and associations in
launching prevention courses. The presentations included representatives from
the Ministry of Health, the Italian Society of Pediatrics, the Carabinieri
Health Group, the Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital, the Court of Auditors, the
Ministry of Education and Merit, the National Institute of Health, the
Association of School Managers, MOIGE, and AIPPI. The session was moderated by
Gaetana Natale, a State Attorney.
Also focusing
on operational tools, the Carlo Mendozzi Foundation reintroduced
"Bingotto! On the Children's Side," a web app that uses narrated
fairy tales, language games, and resources for parents to help them make
informed food choices day after day. This educational tool interacts with both
school and family life.
